Surgery, Part II

On Friday, Jackson had his second (and last) surgery to remove his birth mark. It went flawlessly, and we're so glad to have gotten it over with. Because J has recently developed some stranger anxiety (thankfully), we had to give him a sedative this time before his surgery. The sedative got to him quickly, and made him act SO drunk. He was giggling at Grandpa, and giving Dad kiss after kiss, and he could barely hold his eyes open! When the time came, he went willingly and easily into the anesthesiologist's arms, and so we were relieved. Here is Dad and Jackson in Post-Op. We were there about an hour waiting for Jackson to became more alert, and make sure he was able to hold down some apple juice (ok, so he had 3 glasses when he was only supposed to get one. How do you think he gets to the 97% in height, and 80% in weight?) You can see he was still pretty drugged, but he was a lot less scared and panicky than last time. We took him home, and he slept for a while, and then he was up and at 'em! I mean, seriously, you could barely tell he'd had surgery that day! This picture shows him enjoying the baked ziti I made. He loves pasta, just like his mom. J heals really well, according to the plastic surgeon, so hopefully in a couple of months we'll hardly be able to tell he ever had this huge birth mark on his bum! Until then, we have to take careful sponge baths, and keep J from pulling at his bandages!

I'm so glad to hear the surgery went well. He's a baby ninja -- right. Glad all is well.
